Great First Day

We had a very bust first day of school!   I enjoyed meeting everyone today and was so impressed with their work. The first few days will be a big transition for your child.   The first week can seem very long for your child. During this time we will be going over a lot of the rules and procedures for first grade.  While we do stop and take breaks during this time it is a lot of listening, modeling and practicing of our rules and expectations.  This part of the school year is an important part in establishing good routines, classroom behavior, and a classroom community.   While everyone did such an amazing job today, even in the heat, I know many students were tired and wiped out by the end of the day.  In order to help your child build up their endurance and stamina for our long first grade day, please be sure they are getting a good night sleep, they are having a hearty nutritious breakfast, and that you include a good size water bottle or extra water for your child to have during the day.  I know that the forecast for the week is for more hot days so please remember to send in a water bottle with your child.  Also, please be sure to communicate with your child if he or she is buying lunch or if they may buy a snack.  In first grade students are able to buy snacks - ice cream, chips, cookies - in addition to their lunch.  Please discuss if you would like your child to purchase these snacks on a daily basis, once a week or not at all.    We had a few bus mix ups and again I apoligize for this.  I am sure that tomorrow this will go much better!  I hope your child enjoyed the first day of school and I am looking forward to a great week!  If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to me.
