Week of September 8

We had a great, and hot, second week of school!  This week we continued to work on our life skills.  We practiced being good friends and classmates by working together to make a fall tree.  We also talked about how important it is to look at our friends when we are speaking to each other, use good manners, and to hlep each other when someone is stuck on something.  Everyone is really helping each other and getting to know each others likes and dislikes.

We also had our first library class this week.  Miss Carney read Library Lion by Michelle Knudsen.  It taught us about how we should act while visiting the library.  We were able to check out 2 books at the end of class.  We will be going to the library wvery Tuesday.  Students may return their books any day before Tuesday so that they are able to check out new books on Tuesday.

We got to use our iPads!  Every first grade student will have an iPad that they will be able to use during the year for various projects and learning.  We went over all of our iPad rules, practice following them, and then set up our very own Google account.  We are very excited to use the iPads and are looking forward to palying "games!"

On Friday we had our Hero's Assembly.  We enjoyed listening to the Patriotic songs sung by the 5th Grade chorus and took time to honor the hero's in our community.  The Burlington Police and Fire Department were at Pine Glen so that we could say thank you for keeping us safe and helping in our community.  After the assembly we noticed that the First Grade Ticket Jar was FULL!!  We clebrated by having a Dance Party!  Everyone worked very hard to contribute to the ticket jar and now we are looking forward to our next surprise!
