Week of September 14

This week we began our reading and math classes. In reading we have all been working on reviewing the letters, thier sounds and formations in Fundations. We also began learning our new centers and expecatations.  In math we took the Symphony assessment and began Topic 1.  All students will begin using ST Math in their classroom.  Unfortunately we are having some technology problems logging into this app. By the end of the week we are hoping that all first graders will have been given a logon.

We continue to work on building friendships and working together. We have been reading a lot of stories about including our classmates and how it would feel if we were excluded from soemthing.  Thursday was Constitution Day so we talked about how in the United States we have laws just like we have rules in Room 107.  We chose our classroom jobs also.  Everyone now has something that they will be responsible for in our classroom.  This will help everyone take ownership and responsibility for the things on our class. Everyone continues to do their best first grade work to earn tickets.  I think the First Grade Ticket Jar will be filled up again before we know it.

It was very nice to meet everyone at Back to School Night.  As I mentioned if you ever have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact me.  We all enjoyed reading our notes from mom and/or dad on Thursday morning!
