Hour Of Code

This week students all over the world participated in Hour of Code.  Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in over 180 countries.  It is a one hour introduction to computer science.  Student learned coding or programming.  When programming students need to break down the steps in order to to do something.  We talked about how when we come into school in the morning there is an order to the steps that we do before entering the classroom. You can't complete one step unless you have done the previous step.  When you are coding you need to think of all the steps in order to complete a task.

Friday afternoon all first grade students got together to learn how to code.  Mrs. Ardizonni our technology specialist came in to teach us about coding and introduce us to a new app - Lightbot.  We had to get the robot to move around the board.  Every step needs to be added into the code in order to correctly move the robot.  We practiced a few together and then had time to try some on our own!  If you would like more information or would like to try some coding you may visit  the Hour of Code website.
