What We've Been Up To

Our weeks have been choppy with days off and school assemblies but we have been working very hard since we have come back form our break.  We have been learning about the Four Seasons in science and then used this information to write a persuasive piece about why our season is the best.  In math we have been working on addition and subtraction strategies.  It is important that everyone is working on their math facts.  As our problems become larger it is a lot easier to solve problems if the facts ot 10 are memorized.  In Fundations we continue to learn new trick words every week.  We have been learning  new glued sounds and working on tapping out words that have these sounds in them.

Every grade earned 50 HOOT cards so we received a school wide prize - The Whip & Nae Nae

Here is the video with Ms. Zanotti's write up that was posted on Mr. Lyons blog:on John's blog:

Mr. Musselman and Ms. Pavlicek came to Pine Glen to help us learn about recycling.  They taught us how we can recycle here at Pine Glen.  They have been in the cafeteria during lunch and we are already seeing a difference.  Before the assembly we had 29 pounds of garbage the next day we only had 17 pounds.  All the rest was recycled!

Ms. Pavlicek came to teach us about Chicks!  We will be learning about Chicks and Birds in the coming weeks.  We will get to experience first hand how a baby chick hatches from an egg.  Ms. Pavlicek will be bringing in the eggs on Monday, January 25.  We are all very excited!

Happy Patriot's Day!
